(May 20, 2020)Given the recent news on China and Huawei, can you provide an update on Cirrus Logic’s relationship with Chinese OEMs?

Answer:
Though sales to our end customers in China make up a relatively small proportion of the company’s overall revenues, we currently supply components to numerous OEMs in China, including Huawei. We continue to have strong relationships with these customers, and are focused on providing outstanding support and targeting new opportunities while complying with all applicable government regulations and restrictions.

(February 13, 2020)Any chance your technology can be useful for the hearing impaired?

Answer:
Yes, we have previously provided low power components in hearing aids and there are a few products shipping today that have incorporated our technology into consumer personal sound amplification products (PSAPs). However, the hearing aid market is currently not a target given its size and fragmentation. We continue to see exciting innovation in other wearable consumer devices, such as PSAPs and truly wireless headsets that are bringing more features to enhance user experiences around hearing augmentation, ambient awareness and overall hearing health related applications.

(January 30, 2020)Is there any possibility for significant monetization of the microphone business through selling its IP?

Answer:
At this time we do not expect to monetize any of the intangible assets (including intellectual property) associated with our discontinued MEMS product line, but will continue to explore potential options for those and other assets. We would note, that as a rule Cirrus Logic is cautious about patent sales given they can potentially end up in the hands of patent trolls, which we view as a negative for the industry in general, and occasionally for our customers.

(November 21, 2019)I heard the US Commerce Department is granting licenses for companies to export products to Huawei. Did Cirrus Logic get one?

Answer:
Yes. We are pleased as this should enable the company to provide the support necessary to target new design opportunities for our low-power audio amplifier products in smartphone applications at Huawei.

(May 20, 2019)The U.S. Commerce Department has added Huawei Technologies and its affiliates to the "Entity List" which greatly restricts their ability to buy components from U.S. companies. How will this impact Cirrus?

Answer:
Cirrus Logic will of course comply with any restrictions that are put in place. While this is disappointing from a long term business perspective, there is no material impact to the guidance we’ve provided for the current quarter.

(October 11, 2018) Are the actions that Dialog announced today likely to impact Cirrus Logic’s audio business at its largest customer in the future?

Answer:
We don’t foresee any impact to Cirrus stemming from the changes in their announcement. With a large number of general market and custom developments in the pipeline for new and existing customers, our visibility and outlook over the coming years remain compelling. We look forward to sharing our results on November 1.
